Isabel Zapardiez trusts on Ezpeleta for her first wedding umbrella collection 15 May, 2017 – Posted in: News – Tags: , ,

Last April 3rd, we received a call from Isabel Zapardiez´s atelier in San Sebastian. The Basque designer got in contact with Ezpeleta to develop what would be her first collection of bridal umbrellas to be presented at Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week. After a meeting and several days of work, finally came the day we could enjoy the good work of Isabel and all her team. The spectacular costumes accompanied in each moment by accesories such as headdresses, handbags, shoes and umbrellas. Incredible also the staging, fusing music, words, designs and multimedia elements.

Isabel Zapardiez‘s new collection of wedding dresses, “Oh!Rigami”, constitutes a free interpretation of Japan, through the eyes of the designer. It details its proposals for the 2018 season, which stands out for its innovation and originality, in a creative exercise to celebrate the brand’s 15th anniversary.

Among the novelties presented in “Oh!Rigami”, Isabel Zapardiez proposes a new bridal fashion icon, the UMBRELLA, that surpass their functionality to become a symbol of protection, and also a nod to the climatology of heir land. The designer reinvents this garment with her first umbrella collection, created in collaboration with the Basque brand Ezpeleta, which has a tradition of more than 80 years making handicrafts limited edition umbrellas. It is an umbrella company founded in 1935 in Oñati, Guipúzcoa, and one of the few remaining manufacturers in Spain and Europe, who understands the umbrella as a fashion accessory. As the designer says “Rain is very present in the north and I wanted to include in the collection that wink to the most practical reality. Thanks to the collaboration with the Ezpeleta team, who besides skilled craftsmen are passionate about their work, we have created some very impressive haute couture umbrellas. They are both a challenge to adversity and a world to take refuge in.”

The collection also includes references to great masters of Haute Couture such as Cristobal Balenciaga, in the year of the centenary of the opening of his first business in San Sebastián, a few meters away from where today is the study of Isabel Zapardiez.

The designs of Isabel Zapardiez are defined as creations tailored to each woman and by a craftwork that is done with the direct involvement of the designer. Their proposals deepen in the concept of total image, taking all the range of garments of the feminine clothing to the Couture universe.
